Heart to Vows

One of my favorite things to do as a creative small business owner is to work with other creative small business owners. I am always in awe of people - their ideas, passion and drive to put something into the world that isn’t there or make something that is already there even better.

Asha is a creative entrepreneur who is the founder of Heart To Vows - an all inclusive vow writing service with options of having a (word for assitant) create meaningful ceremonies based on the values of her couples. Asha has a way with words that sets her apart from the rest. As an english teacher and literary fanatic, she has the ability to listen to the meaning and create the words to go along with it. I would describe her process as nothing short of magical.

This brand session was the kick off to Asha’s business being introduced to the world. I know she is going to crush it. I couldn’t have been more honored to help bring her vision to life and be a part of her creative entrepreneur journey.

Hickens Family Session

When I heard that the Hicken’s family was expecting baby #3 I was so excited for them and even more thrilled that they asked me to capture this exciting time in their lives. We picked a day during winter break and got really lucky with the weather and my favorite spot in Morristown.

The best thing about family sessions is that we can document how families grow over the years. With every new member added to the family, and every milestone reached.

We set out to Loantaka for our session. It was a great day, just as winter was turning into spring. My favorite shot of all of these is the one of Ellie and Harper holding hands on the grass. How adorable are they? Imagine being able to fit into shoes that little. They are such sweet siblings and were fully ready to take on their new role as big sisters.

Shortly after this session, they welcomed a baby boy, Carter, to their sweet family. I’m so glad they have these photos to remember their last days as a family of 4.

Meet, Intern Emma

My name is Emma. I’m a senior in high school, and will be attending the University of Scranton this fall. I’m really excited to be interning with Katie Bellini Photography… before we start, here are some things you should know about me!!!

I’m a music lover. Growing up, I found that music was a great creative outlet to heal and grow. When it comes to creating, I think it’s important to capture things in the moment, because the truth is, you’re never going to get that moment back. This goes for any type of creativity - including photography. I think art is the most valuable thing in the world, because it is a universal way for people to connect to each other and say “I feel that way, too.”

I love to travel. I love it. In fact, one of the things I enjoy the most is traveling for music. Over the last few years, I’ve traveled thousands of miles to see different artists, even when it wasn’t completely necessary. In 2016, I traveled to Texas to see Taylor Swift. In 2018, I traveled to Nashville and Boston to see her, too. My friends and I have gone on three hour car rides on school nights for different concerts, because the ways different people connect to music is amazing. Music in New Jersey doesn’t even amount to the value of music in a place like Nashville. I like to think of this as a metaphor for how diverse the world can be. The way you see the world is completely different from how someone across the planet sees it. The things you value are completely different from the things someone else does. This is why it’s so important to travel; to see the world in perspectives you’ve never seen it before.

Lastly, one of the most important things to know about me is how much I love my friends. As cheesy as it sounds, my friends are probably the main thing that make me who I am. I got so lucky to have a completely drama-free high school experience, because my friend group is full of the most thoughtful, kindhearted, supportive, understanding, and compassionate people. If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that I wouldn’t be who I am without my them.

I think our lives should be measured by how much we love. It’s important to love each other, to love ourselves, and to love the world around us. I think when you really love something- when you think something is really beautiful, special, or alluring - it’s worth capturing.

LBI Dockside Portrait Session

I grew up photographing this beauty. I have albums filled with photos of her as a baby, toddler, adolescent and now a high school sophomore?! How? Whenever I scroll through photos of Arianna, I am reminded how important family photos are. I love to see portraits of her through all of the stages of life.

This quick dockside session was totally spontaneous. Arianna had just come off the beach and had salty hair and red cheeks. She was just too cute to resist so I grabbed my camera and we played.

It feels like just yesterday she had to wear a life jacket whenever she was on this dock and now she’s full glam on the top of my Dad’s boat, giggling and humoring me.

I just love her.

NYC Skyline Beauty Session

When I was younger, I used to love beauty magazines. Actually, all magazines. It wasn’t the celebrity interviews or the “10 ways to (followed by some piece of judge-y advice) articles - it was the photoshoots, usually in the back of the magazine. I used to skip to editorials of cool outfits and fun models. The funkier, the better.

Up until now, I never really knew what drew me to those images and that content. It was definitely more than pretty photos and wanting to be like models in magazines. It was a combo of the fashion forward looks and the way the photographer captured the style so beautifully, so differently than anything I had seen before.

Fast forward to now. I still love fashion photography. Bloggers, digital content. All of it.

When I look at these images of Lisa, I remember that little girl who couldn’t wait to flip to the photoshoot portion of the magazine. I think that little girl would have loved these images.
